In the course of the o- 'e one of the defendants said “ The devil made the laws ani the magistrates fired the balls.” He was ordered down for contempt, bat before the rising of the Court apolog'sed and was let off. Several of the defends its elected to take it out in goal. On the Court rising the Sslvationis's who had paid the fines marched round and knelt down in the streets, showing their contempt of the Resident Magistrate’s decision.
