A SERIOUS CHARGE.
Auckland, August 19.
A case of alleg'd swindling by Government contactors cam© up at tbo Police Court to-day. Maurice Casey, of the S m of Casey and Lovett, coal merchants, and Edward Shoit, carter in their employ, were charged with forging and uttering weighbiidgo tickets, and also with the larceny of tickets. The allegation is *hat the firm named, who have a contract to subply coal to Government institutions and offices, send shoit weight, and Kohimsrama Industrial School weighbridge tickets were delivered, pmporting ,o show full weight, but it was found the tickets had been stolen and forged. The prisoners were remanded ti’l Monday nest. Bail in £l' C) was allowed.
