I A meeting of the Alford Forest School Committee was held in the school on the 6th Inst. Present—Mr T. Chapman (Chairman), and Messrs Hugh Muirhead, L. C. Bimber, T. Simpson, Henry Bates, and J. Rowe. A letter was ie&d from the master, stating the attendance since the holidays to be 21, number on the roll to be 44. It was suggested to bring the compulsory clauses in force, but the matter was allowed to stand over for the present, A circular was read from the Board of Education re alteration In appointing teachers in future, which was highly approved of. Six applications was received for the position of master. It was unanimously decided to send them all to the Board of Education, asking them to select the most suitable man, the Board also to be requested to appoint the master’s wife as sewing mistress if suitable.
