At a meeting of “ The Eoyal Commission on Vegetable Produces ” held at Ballarat, Mr Geo. Smith, nurseryman, spoke very strongly of the necessity for conserving forests and promoting the growth of timber. He said the temperature of the district had declined daring the last 30 years. Forests which flourished 25 years ago did not grow now, and be attributed the decrease in temperature to destruction ol forests.
