ALLEGED INCITING TO ARSON.
Dcnidin, August 5. Louis Thompson has been committed for trial c n a cha-go of aiding, abettin», and Inciting Mary Jans Docharty to set fire to his house in South Dunedin. There Is » charge against Dsoherty of sotting fire to the houi# but that was ad* j mrned, and she gave evidence against T >ompson to the effect that Thompson hi d spoken to her about sotting a match to the building. When he left his house on the last occasion, he Informed her that ho would like her to “do it,” anl os t« would arrange everything, all she WOQld have to do would be to light a piecs of candle which ha gave her. Accused sent her a letter containing the words “ yes yes,” which by previous arrangement was to mean that she was to set fire to the house. Evidence of neighbors was given showing that Thompson and Docherty had some wo"ds about money, and Docherty threatened to tell on Thompson. He had given her £lO. S>me of ihe furniture had been removed from the house Prisoner was admitted te bal, bat has as yet found no bond - men.
