Sib, —With reference to the petition of residents at Hinds, asking for improved cat' la yards at that station, which yon handed into me, I have the honor to inform you that instructions have been given for the improvement of the present yards. —I have the honor to be, Sir, yoar obedient servant, Edward Richardson, Minister for Public Works. J. Ivess, Esq., M H.R., Wellington. Po»t Office and Telegraph Department, General Post Office. Wellington, 14th July, 1886. Sib, —I have the honer to acknowledge the receipt of yonr note of the 23rd ultimo, and of the petition, which it enclosed, for a Post Office at, and a triweekly mail service to, Pendsrves, From the enquiries that have been made, it has been ascertained that the mail service can be established for twenty pounds a year, and that the schoolmaster will conduct the office gratuitously.
