It is definitely stated That the Marquis of Londonderry will be appointed Lord Lieutenant of Ireland ; Sir Michael Hicks-Beach, Chief Secretary for Ireland ; Lord R. Churchill, Chancellor of the Exchequer; the Earl of Iddesleigb, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs. A meeting of the leaders of the Liberal party was held to-day, at which it was resolved not to take any action upon the assembling of Parliament, but to await the delivery of the Queen’s speech before deciding upon the course to be pursued in opposition. It is understood the meeting agreed to assist the Government in the passage of supply. London, July 29. It is understood that the position of Foreign Secretary in the new Ministry has been offered to but declined by Lord Lyons, the present British Ambassador in Paris. London, July 29 Further appointments to the new Ministry including the following:— Lord Halsbury, Lord High Chancellor j Mr W. 11. Smith, Secretary of State for War; Lord George Hamilton, First Lord of the Admiralty. Mr Chamberlain has made a statement fully endorsing the promise made 1 to the Marquis of Harrington to support the Conservative Administration 1 in dealing with the Irish difficulty. j Colonel Stanley has been appointed 1 Secretary of State for India in the new g administration.
