THE UNEMPLOYED
Auckland, July 28
Another large meeting of the unemployed was held this morning, H. W, Farral presiding. A telegram was received from the Minister of Public Works i ffering passages to Helensville, where the unemployed could make a living on the gum fields It was resolved that the Minister be thanked for his offer; at the same time stating ha was misinformed as to the gum fields giving a livelihood. It was also resolved to urge the Minister of Lands to set apart special settlements along the line of Hallways, made or contemplated, so that the nnemployed might settle and work partly on the Railway and partly on the lands. At the close of the meeting a procession was formed to the office of the relieving officer who was requested to telegraph to the Government for relief.
