A FATAL FALL
Dunedin, July 27
j On Snnday evening William Low, I tunnel man, working on Otago Central Bailway for the past ten month s, lost his life by falling over a precipice near where the Barewood creek empties into the Taieri river. O a Sunday he was drinking at several sly-grog shanties at Deep Stream I and was seen coming towards his home at Flat Stream, four miles distant, at about 6 o’clock In the evening. Yesterday mornnig Henry Clark, while riding along, noticed the body at the foot of the cliff. The track deceased took is a most dangerous one at certain points, especially at night time. His footsteps were traced to I the spot where he stumbled and fell (heaclong apparently, for his “ uc " disfigured) a clear space of 100 feet and ihen he must have fallen a further die tance of 200 feet. a part of his watch chain was hanging to his vest and on a search being made the watch was found where ne had struck at the first fall of 100 feet. Deceased was 40 years of age, and . unmarried.
