STABBING CASE

Christchurch, July 26.

A case of stabbing has occurred here to-nigh*-, in which the perpetrator was George Brown, a lodginghouse keeper, and the sufferora young man named Thos McMahon. It appears that Brown had been the worse for liquor all day, and quarrelled with McMahon in thie evening. As the yonng man was going into the diningroom Brown rushed at him with an open pocket knife. McMahon knocked down hia assailant, but he rose and stabbed McMahon in the left hip. Brown was overpowered, and subsequently arrested on a charge of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm. Christchurch, July 27 George Brown has been committed for trial for stabbing Thomas McMahon in a fracas at Brown’s Boardinghouse yosorday.
