SEACLIFF ASYLUM.

Dujjkdie*, July 9

Ex-warders Sutherland and Dundas have made an appeal through the Press for a proper public Investigation Into the conduct of Dr Neill, of Seaoliff Asylum, in the case of Cook referred to in Dr M’Gregoi’s report, and state that they are prepared to substantiate every statement. They state that the delay from Feb. 27 to May 10, without making complaint, was due to private causes. They say that Cook took to his bed, but was ordered out by DrjNeill, who said It was a lazy fit. Cook remained np some daya ; and the two attendants remarked that he was dying on his feet. On Dr Neill’s attention being called to Cook on Fob. 26, the doctor said he was more knave than fool, and ordered a dose of salts to be given him, and to get him up. They state that the doctor did not visit Cook next- day, and he died the same evening. They state that twenty minutes after they had notifi d that they were go ng to lay the matter before the authorities for investigation, Dr Neill waited on them and ordered them to leave the service. At this time Dundas was under notice for getting married, and Sutli riand’s insubordination, for which he as dismissed, consisted of his informing Dr Neill that he had a complaint to make. These are the allegations which Dr M’Gregor investigated, and which we e considered by him to be disproved.
