INDIAN AND COLONIAL EXHIBITION.

Official StatementWellington, Ju’y 8. The following cable messages were road in the House this afternoon, regarding accusations of mismanagement against the New Zealand officials at the London Exhibition ;

From the Treasurer to the AgentGeneral.

Be Exhibition.—Reflations on the hew Zealand Court, each as that It is inferior to the other Colonies, not worthy of the Colony ; a third-rate museum; that Bullet’s colkc ions are over prominent; that there is too much natural h’stoiy and inadequate attention to useful productions. The gold obelisk, though desirable, has not received justice. Advise what, if any, truth there Is In these statements, and give a general estimate of the New Zealand Court. Also, do you think It desirable to do anything ? From the Agent-GeneralJ to the Treasurer.

I have anmmoned the Commissioners to consider what measures to take, but meanwhile you may rest assured that such sweeping detraction is not merely without warrant, but entirely contrary to the general verdict, and really quite ridiculous, None of the Cour.s are comparable to Canada, but yours compares well with the Australian Courts, having regard to the materials at Sir Julius von Haast’s command ”

The reading of the above was received in the House with applause.
