Wool—At to-day’s sale a catalogue of 14,500 bales was submitted, which met with a firm and active demand. 185,500 bales have been catalogued since the commencement of the series, of which number 4500 bales have been withdrawn from auction. The fourth series of colonial wool sales will open on September 7, and fifth series will commence on November 23. The weekly returns of the Bank of England published to-day show the total reserve in notes and bullion to be 800.000, less than last week The proportion of reserve to liabilities has fallen per cent,
