HAKATERE TOWN BOARD.

Tho ordinary' meeting of the Hakatere Town Board was hold at tho Board’s office, Uamp3te.i l, Irst evening. Present : Messrs F. T. Mayo (Chairman), W, W. White, P. Fawcett and O. W. Andrews KESI.i ■'AVION. Mr B Carter wrote resigning his seat on the Board. It w s decided t > ask Mr Carter to reconsider his decision. TUB GOPSE NUISANCE. A letter was road from Mr Pickfnrd call'ng the Board's attention to several go.ae hedges in tho district wlrcS overhung the footpaths —lt was decided to notify the owners of toe sections in question '.e clear all gorso encroaching upon footpaths. 1 ROADS. The members of the Board decided to meet on the follow.ng day pud inspect the roads in the district. TREASURER Mr Andrews war appointed Treasurer to the Board. PAYMENTS. Accounts amounting to £2 12h(!1, for preliminary expenses, were passed for payment. CLERK. It was decided to call for applications for the position of Clerk. NOMENCLATURE. Pursuant to notice, Mr White moved —“ That the motion parsed at a recent meeting that the name of the distiiot be changed from Hakatere to Hampstead be rescinded.” After au irregular discussion the Chairman seconded pro forma.

The motion was lost. Mr Fawcett moved— ‘That the Chairman take the necaisary steps to have the name altered from Hakatere to Hampstead.”

Mr Andrews seconded the motion, which was carried, Mr White dissenting. The Board than adjourned.
