Wellington, Jane 30. After the usual preliminary bnsineM in the House this afternoon the debate on the Pacific Islands question was resumed by Sir Julius Vogel. Several other members having spoken the House divided Sir George Grey’s motion being negatived by a large majority. Mr Scobie’a McKenzie’s amendment was negatived on the voices, and Mr Barron’s was lost on a division by 48 to 15. Tba first of the series of resolutions moved by the Government was carried on the voices, and at the 5 30 adjournment the House was debating the second resolution, and Mr Rolleston’s amendment thereupon.
