THE RUSH TO KIMBERLEY
[by telegraph.]
Chbistcht'roh, June 30.
In consequence of the large number of passengers which is expected to be carried by the Triumph to Derby for Kimberley goldfield, the Government has decided to put the Emigration Act in force. This is believed to be the first time such a thing has been done in New Zealand. This Act fixes the amount of space allowed to each passenger. No intoxicating liquor is to be sold on board under a penalty of a fine of £SO. Fifty days’ provisions must be carried, which, as the voyage will not last half that timo, is considered rather oppressive by tho agent.
