THE LYTTELTON ORPHANAGE
ALLEGED ILL-TREATMENT. Christchurch, June 21,
Two 'Lyttelton residents, Stephen Norris and John Dyer, have written to the Mayor of the Borough, stating that on Jone 10, a cold wet day, when they were working at soma repairs to the Orphanage, they saw a boy named Mitchell sitting stark naked on the asphalt, with a bigger boy throwing cold water over him. M’tchell was r creaming, and was blue with cold, and they e»y that had the treatment been continued muah longer death would have resulted. Ho had poigmitted some childish act of uncloanlincss and the older boy bad boon told to wash him.
