appeared in the “Press” of the 7th last, alleging that he had endeavored to iudnoe Mr J. C. Backlaud to vote for the Government on the occasion of the recent want of confidence debate by offering him any thing he wished for his constituency ■ He stated that the statement was a wickedly
(mendacious one, there not being a word of truth in It. This was corroborated by Mr Buokland. Mr Beddon moved a reso-
lution affirming that the newspaper in question had been guilty of a breach of the privilege of the House. A long discussion ensued, and eventually the debate was adjourned till Thursday. In committee on the Municipal Corporations Bill, the Premier moved sn amendment, tbaeffectof which Is to abolish plural voting. The debate npon this oropoeal is now (7 30 p. m). proceeding.
