A stable and four-roomed cottage at Port Ahutiri were destroyed by fire at 3 a. m. When discovered the stable was completely wrapped in flames, and it was Impossible to get out two horses, which perished. The people in the cottage escaped In their night clothe*. The stable* was uninsured, and the cottage was insured for £IOO in the Standard.
