RANGITATA ROAD BOARD.
The usual moncnlv meeting of the above Board was held at Liamore on Monday. Present : Messrs C. J. Harper (chairman), G. Burgess, J. Doyle, aud 0. M. Strachey. KATES. A return of rates paid was laid on the table, showing that about £390 had been collected, and about £95 remained unpaid. The Chairman was instructed to order the Collector to sue for all outstanding rates. GRAVEL RESERVE. Permission was grafted to Mr T Paterson to occupy gravel reserve, near his house, ou certain conditions. SMALL BIKOS NUISANCE. The resolution concerning payments for small birds’ eggs and heads was suspended.

In reply to Messrs Helmore, Green and Sorint, the Board decided to proceed with the closing of the road passing throogh properties of those gent'emen. In reply to a request to open a road across the Hinds, It was resolved to ascertain whether the Upper Ashburton Road Board is willing to jo n in the work. Works The Chairman undertook to inspect the ford at Mayfield crossing, and *o call for tenders for metalling about 80 chains of road. Messrs Burgess ard Doyle were authorised to have stonep : cking, miles on Kangitata side of the district, done It was ordered that notices to clear gorse from public roads should be issued. PAYMENTS. The following accounts were passed for payment :—County Council, half cost storm water channel, Upper Hinds, £35 ; J. C. Bell. £l3 8s; f’hristensen, stone picking, £l9 19j 9J ; Christensen, work.. Mayfield, £4 16s 3d ; Tate and Reaney, £l4; Brown, £2O; stationery, £1 5s ; Bennett, £8 ; deposit account to general account, £l2 Is COM PLIMBMAKY. A vote of thanks was passed to Mr E. G. Wright, the late Chairman of the Board. SEPARATION. On the moti< n of Mr Burgess, seconded by Mr Siracbey, it was resolved—- “ (1) That this B iard does not object to a new district being formed out ot the upper portion of this district, but does object to the proposed boundary between the two districts, because all the traffic towards the south from the upper district must pass through this district, which would be unfair to our ratepayers if we had to maintain those roads leading to the Rangitata Bridge. (2) This Board proposes, in the event of separation being granted, that the road leading from Mayfield to the Bangitata Bridge would be the most fair boundary between the districts, this road being the present boundary of the Rangitata and Liamore School Districts.”
ADJOURNMENT. The Board then adjourned till Monday, July 1.
