At the Magistrate’s Court to day, Matthew Johnston was charged with stab bing Jaa. Mclntyre at Paikakariki yesterday. Accused, who pleaded guilty, was sentenced to two months’ hard Lbor, and was ordered to find sureties for keeping the peace after his release. Councillor Robin of Dunedin, denies that he is prosecuting the claims of the Dunedin Corporation against the Government in connection with the blasting explosion in Dunedin Invercargill, June 8.

At a meeting of policy holders of the Government Lfe Insurance Association, to hear Mr Fisher’s views, a mmion favouring his schema for future management was carried by an overwhelming majority as against the suggestion to h snd back tho management to the Government. A motion was also carried favouring the eata b.ishment of Local Boards, and suggesting that the Government should embody a clause to that effect in the Bill.
