Tho following is a copy of the telegram from Lor I Carrington to tho Governor of New Zealand : June 7th. On receipt of the Consul’s latter from New Caledonia I sent the Secretary of State for the Colonies the following telegram :—‘ Latest news from British Consul at New Caledonia ; French man-of war Dives left for New Hebrides aOch May, taking on board troops and provisons for three months, and put into lighting order. Supposed their intention is" to hoist French national flag. Senior officer ordered transport to proceed to New Hebrides day after with timber and corrngaK'd iron for barracks. Entrance to Now Caledonia reported watched.’ ’’

At a meeting of the Now Hebrides Comnr.Uee it was resolved to forward, a telegram to the Premier, stating that notwithstanding to day’s telegrams re the Few Hebrides, th ! s committee, on behalf of the community, renew their emphatic protema, and beg ihe transmission of tho protest to the Home Government.
