Tho Value of an Ann. Wsuikoton, June 9.
At tho Supreme Court, Mrs Syme, formerly of Nelson, brought an action against J F. Rookstrow, of Fox ton, claiming £6OO damages for alleged unskilful treatment of a broken arm, and lost service in consequence. The medical evidence went to show the case was unsuccessfully treated. After a few minutes deliberation the jury gave a verdict for £2OO <>n the ground that the defendant vaa guilty of neglect in not calling medical evidence afterwards. Snow.

Sudden Death. Invercargill, June 9.
John Hare, a wel known merchant, died suddenly last night Deceased arrived many years ago, and for a long time did a large trad© with the lakss and goldfields. Before coming to New Zealand he was at the Cape of Good Hop©, and on the Victorian goldfields.
