WAKANUI ROAD BOARD.
The ordinary monthly meeting of the Wakanui Road Board was held at the Board’s office to day. Present:—Messrs Bruce (Chairman), Cole, Hill, and Brown Correspondence. Letters were read; - (1) From Bank of New Zealand referring to the bridge over the Beach Road, and asking the Board I to undertake the necessary repairs:—The Snrveyor was instructed to inspect the headworks of the water race and if considered unsafe and likely to bring a large quantity of water on to the road to draw the Council’s attention to the matter. (2 j From the Commis doner of Crown Lands
replantations:—Surveyor authorised to attend to the matter (3) From Mr J. Corbett re over flow of storm water: Received (4) From Mr D Butterick asking for timber for bridge across drain so as to afford entrarci to his scctiont. The Snrveyor was iuatruc ed to report upon the matter to next meeting. (5/ From the Chairman of the Hakatere Town Board with reference to settlement of accounts. It was resolved that the Board would receive a Committee of the Hakatere Town Board at 1 p m. 00 Saturday J uly 3. DEPUTATION. Mr W Wilson interviewed the Board on the subject of the bridge over the Wakanui Township Road. He protested against the Board erecting a bridge, and Stated a good ford could be made to carry all traffic. Mr Wilson also asked the Board to form the Seaside road from Mr Jameson’s to the Rakaia Boundary roai.—Considera-
tion of matte* was deferred. Mr Wilson further brought under the fiortctice of the Board the question of the tehee on the road at Shipka Pass.— It was resolved that if the fenc» be not remove! by the 14th inst it be an instruction to the Surveyor to take proceedings under the Road Board’s and Public Works Act.
