Unemployed. .AUCKLAND, June 1
An “unemployed” meeting this morning was addressed by Garrard It was resolved to ask Government, through the Mayor, to provide work for 200 more men, or to pay their passages to Kimberley It was also agreed to endeavor to get wages on relief works raised from 4s (3d to 6s per day.
Bankruptcy. Alexander Brown, charged at tho 1 once Court this morning with leaving the colony against the provisions of the Bankruptcy Act, was remanded till Friday.
Log Rolling. Wellington, June I
At a meeting of Auckland members, held this morning about 15 present, resolutions were passed to the effort that the sum of £70,000, set dovvu for the north of Auckland line, is quite inadequate, contending that it is trunk lino, and a Committee of seven was appointed to wait on the Government and endeavor to get the amount increased.
Congratulatory. _ An address from the residents of Taranaki to the Hon Mr Bryce, conaratu ting him on his success in the case Br.yee v Rnsden is to be presented to him this afternoon.

The Australasian Humane Society propose to grant awards to Inspector Stephens who was the means of saving four lives from drowning in the lower harbour.
