HORSE MARKET
Mr T. Bullock reports for the week ending Saturday, May 20 : —There was a large entry of horses, viz., 41, but biddings throughout the sale were languid, and only 15 were aolu. a conti ast to the previous Saturday, when biddings were very spirited, and there appeared to be more buyers than sellers, especially for medium draughts of a good stamp, suitable for farm work. Amongst the entries to-day were a number of better classed horses, and the few sold fetched fairly high figures, as given below; but for inferior draughts it was dillioult to obtain a bid. Out of the total day’s entry (41) 15 were sold as follows ;—Medium draughts, rather light, but of a good stamp, £l9 to £23 ; a pair rather better, £2l each ; aged draughts, £4 5s to £7 ; do of a rather better stamp, £i) to £11; hacks, inferior, £6 to £l> ss; light harness horses, £1 10s to £0; scrubbers at low rates. Second-hand dray brought £l3.
