Mr Joseph Boslsto, the executive Commissioner for Victoria at the Exhibitlot£ entertained the members of the Australian Eleven at a banquet in the building. Several colonists were present. The toast of success to the team, was drunk with great cordiality. Scott responded on behalf of the eleven.
The Australian fruits and wines sent to the Exhibition are gaining a high place In public favor amongst tho visiters to the Exhibition and are selling rapidly. May 13,
In the House of Commons, Mr Campbell has notified his intention to ask the Government, whether they propose to take any action to prevent misunderstandings arising with foreign powers, consequent on the claim made by Australia to a monopoly of the Islands in the South Pacific.
It is rumored that in consequence of the disquieting attitude of the loyalists in Ulster, and the resolute determination they exhibit to oppose the introduction of Home Rnle into Ireland, General Roberts, the Oommander-in-C ief of the Indian army, has been ordered to proceed to the disturbed province in order to suppress any outbreak that may occur. Sir Francis Dillon Bell has written to Messrs Westgarth and Co., Colonial agents and brokers, of London, refuting the attacks made by the London Standard on New Zealand in connection with Its borrowing in the London market.
