A telegram received from Christchurch last night says : —A strong south-west gale with heavy rain has been blowing all day, and still continues. The flooding of the streets in the lowlying portions of the city is worse than during the severe weather of a fortnight ago, and if the river continue to rise, some damage will certainly resplt. The traffic on the Christchurch-Little Elver Railway is interrupted. Farmers anticipate great damage to the potato crop. Mr R. M. Taylor, member elect for Sydenham, having been asked to second the Address in Reply, if ho approved of the policy foreshadowed in the speech, has telegraphed to the Premier as follows —“The policy Indicated is satisfactory. I will second the Address in Reply, 1 "
