The following is the Corn Exchange report for the week ending Friday, May 14 : The weather during the past week has been all that could be desired for ploughing operations, and the enquiry for seed wheat points to a likely increase of acreage for the coming season. There is already a good demand for seed wheat. The deliveries from the country districts are becoming gradually less, especially wheat which has given it a hardening tendency. Tuscan is now worth 3s 6d; Hunters at 3s 4d, and Pearl at 3a 53 are also Arm. Those who have already stored would not care to deal except at an advance on these rates. Oats are hardening, and prices have slightly advanced: Milling to 2s Id, short feed 2s to 2s Old, long]kinds Is lOd to Is lid. Barley has buyers for extra prime malting at 3s 3a to 3s Id. Feeding lines at 2s 2d to 2s 4d, but medium malting are without enquiry at 2s fid to 3s. Beans and peas have a fair trade demand, at for the former 2s lOd to 2s lid, feed peas Ss to 3s 3d, beans 3a fid to 4s. Ryegrass and cocksfoot are without alteration in prices, and business is very dull. Potatoes have a weaker tendency, buyers not caring to operate at 40s at country stations, and growers are firm in the demands for that figure, consequently business has had few - transactions to record.
