ASHBDRTON- To day. (Before Mr H. C. S. Baddeley, R.M.) DRUNKENNESS. Charles Massey was charged with having been drunk in East street on the 6th instant. The accused admitted “ the contravention of the regulations of the statute in such cases made and provided,” As he bad evidently not quite recovered from the effects of his buut be was remanded until the following day. CIVIL CASES. Warne v Fowler, claim 15s. This was a case which had been adjourned from a previous day in order that a witness might be called to support the defendant's contention that the money had been paid. K, Hill was called and gave evidence, after which judgment was given for the amount claimed. Bevan v L>. McKenzie, claim Bs, Defendant did not appear, and judgment was given for plaintiff, by default, for the amount claimed and costs. Dolman v Meaolam, claim 6s Bi. Mr. Caygill for plaintiff. Judgment lor amount claimed. Sharp v Hoult, claim IS 11s Od. The plaintiff stated that he had been employed by the defendant for 21 days, and the amount h'e fined for was the balance of bis wages. The defendant admitted having employed the plaintiff, but disputed the time ho had been at work, aid said he had only arranged to give him 5s a day. ile stated that he owed him a balance of 18s. After evidence had been taken judgment was given for 30s without costs. The Oourt then rose.
