This subject, we are informed, has lately occupied the serious attention of the Government, who wish to adopt some line of action which may have the effect of checking the spread of the nuisance The Codliu Moth Act of 1884 coutaina provisions wh.cii might meet the case, but they cun only be set in motion upon the application of the owners of infected orchards, and, as the first result of such applicaliou would be to impose upon the petitioners a tax for the eradication of the pest, the Act has practically proved a i dead letter. Persons taking an interest in this matter should communicate with the Chairman, or with one of the officials of the County Council.
