[REUTER’S TELEGRAMS—COPYRIGHT. ] New Governor. Sydney. Satnrday. The official reception of Lord Carrington, the new Governor, took place this afternoon. There was an imposing demonstration. The streets were lined with crowds of people, who accorded a most enthusiastic welcome to Lord and Lady Carrington. Cricket It is announced that the Melbourne Cricket Club has decided to send Home a team during the coming season.
the Cholera. Melbouknp. Saturday. The Victorian Gazette contains a notice to the effect that, in view of the outbreak of cholera on board the Dorunda, all vessels from Queensland ports will be subjected to quarantine on arrival at Port Philip. (Received Decetubur 14. 12 30 p.m.) Brisbane, To-day, Two more deaths are reported on board the Dorunda. The medical authorities are in some doubt; as to whether the disease is epidemic cholera or whether it is due to the effects of eating tinned fish which contained poisonous substance.
