MOUNT HUTT ROAD BOARD.
A special meeting of ratepayers of the Mount Hutt Road District was held at tbe Road Board office, Methveo, on Friday to consider a proposal by the Board to close a road near Barrhill. The attendance was vety limited. Mr Jackson, Chairman of the Road Board occupied the chair, and it was unanimously resolved that the road as shown ou tbe plan produced be closed.

The Overseer's monthly report was read and approved of. Four tenders were received for making cuttings and formation of portions of a road on the Springfield Estate, and that of R. Patton, being the lowest, was accepted. A letter was received from the Ashburton County Council, asking for return of rates collected and collectable for period ending March Slst next. gimer with regard to the Railway road reported that they had explained all the circumstances in connection with the road to the Engineer, and he bad promised to forward a definite rep y at an early date. A letter was received from Mr Merewether, Lake Heron, asking tho Board either to repair the road leading to his homestead or authorise him to have the necessary works done. Resolved to ask Mr Mem wether to furnish the Board with a tracing of the portion of his property in this district showing the road referred to. —lt was resolved that a rata of o|d (one farthing) in the £ be struck for the period ending 31st March, payable in one instalment on the Bth January next.— Accounts amounting to LSO 16a were passed for payment, and after transacting the usual routine business the Board adjourned.
