The banquet to the Premier at St Leonards, with Mr Dailey, was very largely attended. The insolvency of the Hon G. Edgar, Under Seoietary of Finance and Trade, through unfortunate land speculations, has occasioned much sympathy. He has been permitted to retain his position in the Civil Service under the conditions of it's Act. Advices from New Gninea state that all is quiet along the coast. Port Moresby is being improved, and a Government bouse is boing erected. Melbourne, October 29.
