THE CURE.

To the Editor. Sib, —There are a groat many man in this wicked world who, like “ Another Anxious One,” are not only ashamed to own their names and their professions, but who if at auy time are found out and brought forth into the light endeavor to conceal their identity by the use of some alias or false name. Now, Sir, I did not designate your correspondent, as ho puts it, a “law— a— yer” but simply wrote the syllables *’ law ye—r.” The first may suit him for an alias, but is a word of no meaning. Not so, however, with the second word, which is the name of a creature—according to the “missing Ups’* theory by “Protessor Darvin ’ —which has worked its way up from the slitney regions, and passed through the countless changes of form, assumed by the myriads of nasty creeping mud-producing genara, to the form of the one which the “showman” delights to exhibit. And from thence on to where the “ survival of the fittest ” theory leaves him—in “ Another Anxious One’s own words—simply “waiting fora laugh.” This, Sir, is no doubt a perfectly harmless case, and in order that he may have his most anxious desire fulfilled, I would advise his friends to change the “ treatment ”so as to amuse him. Get him, if possible, to sit down and “ contemplate himself cutting out a paper pattern with a pair of scissors by the united efforts of his right hand, lower jaw, and twothirds of his tongue " when he may get a “ laugh.” I am, etc., Anxious One.
