THE CHARITABLE AID BILL.

Dunedin, Last Night. The City Council to-night discussed the Charitable Aid and Local Finance Powers Bill, and strongly condemned them, and it was resolved to communicate with the city members, pointing out how the proposals would press unfairly on oitiesi. Invercargill, Last Night The Southland Hospital Committee, after two sittings upon the Hospital and Charitable Aid Bill, have adopted an exhaustive critical report submitted by a Sub-Committee. The report cohdemns the Bill in most of the leading provisi ns, and suggests the adoption of a uniform system of subsidy, such as has prevailed here and worked satisfactorily for past years, viz, pound for pound on voluntary contributions, and management of institutions by local Committees annually elected by subscribers.
