Licensing. Blenheim;, To day,
The Awatere Licensing Committee unanimously refused a new license on the Middle Renwick Road on the gromd that another hotel was not required in the district. This was the only license applied for in the whole of Marlborough. Suicides.
Chkistuhukch, To-day,
A farmer named Godfrey Leaohfield. residing at Papanui, committed suicide by cutting his throat yesterday. Frank Nicholson, architect, committed suicide in the Terminus Hotel yesterday, by shooting himself in the bead. Mr Montgomery. Mr W, Montgomery, M. H. R, for Akaroa, addressed his constituents last night and received a vote of thanks and confidence, In his speech he declared himself a supporter of the Government, with the right to oppose any measures he did not approve of. Sudden Death. Dunedin, To-day. G. F. 0. Brown, former!} M PO. for Tuapeka, died suddenly of heart disease at Lawrence. Mr Pyke. Mr Pyke received an enthusiastic vote of confidence at Tapanui. A Defaulting Bankrupt. At the instance of the < Ifficiai Assignee a warrant has been. forwarded to Melbourne for the arrest of Stephen Stamp Hutchinson, the Gas Engineer. A constable was despatched yesterday.
