City Guards ... ... ... ... 53 College Rifles ... ... ... ... 60 Sydenham Rifles ... ... ... 48 Christchurch Rifles ... ... ... 52 Temuka Rifles ... ... ... ... 40 Ashburton Rifles ... ... ... 42 BANDS, Garrison Band... ... ... ... 22 Timaru Artillery Band ... ... 17 STAFF. Officers ... ... ... ... ... 3 MEDICAL STAFF. Surgeons ... ... ... ... 4 RESERVE CORPS. Honorary Reserve ,Oorps ... ... 74 Grand total ... ... ... 717 The Reserve Corps and the Mounted Infantry organised during the past few weeks, turned out for the first time, and acquitted themselves very creditably, as did all the Volunteers present. The colors presented to the Canterbury Volunteers by the ladies of the Province in 1864, and which have not seen the light for several years past, were carried by a color party.
