YESTERDAY’S LATE TELEGRAMS.

Auckland. At the review 500 Volunteers were present. Sir Q. Whitmore was the reviewing officer. At the first meeting of the Auckland Coursing Club 800 persons were present. Wellington.

The weather, which in the early part of the day bad a threatening appearance, cleared up as the day wore on, and remained beautifully fine. L»rge numbers lett town by excursion trains. The Volunteers held a sham fight on the Halt racecourse, which passed off most satisfactorily. About 300 Volunteers took part. About 250. gentlemen attended a dress leve'e at the Government House this morning. A cable message has been received by Sir Julius Vogel from the Loan Agents in London, stating that they are prepared to put the New Zealand loan of one million and a half upon the market immediately, and this morning the Treasurer has signified his approval of their doing so. To-day has been observed as a general holiday, and the weather is glorious. In the morning the Artillery fired a Royal salute, and later a review of the Volunteers of the district was held by Lieut.Colonel Pitt. The review was followed by a sham fight, which was hold in a portion of the town and over the Port Hills, being witnessed by a great concourse of people. Oamaku. The first regatta held at this port took place to-day, and was very successful. There were good entries, and the competition, in many instances, was keen. The Timaru Racing Club’s boat won the principal pulling race. The other events were confined to local crews. Dunedin. The Volunteer parade and sham fight was a great success, the town In the morning having quite a military appearance. The total turn out was 650 of all arms. After some drill a review was held, and then the force was marched out and a sham fight took place.
