The sittings of the Western Pacific Commission came to a dose yesterday. The report of the proceedings is expected shortly. (Received May 1,2 30 p.m.) The English Budget. London, April 30.
Mr Childers, Chancellor of the Exchequer, delivered his Budget Statement to the House of Commons today. He announced that the revenue for the past financial year amounted to L 88,050,000, and the expenditure to L89,i00,0®0. The revenue for the current year is estimated at L. 85,000,000 and the expenditure at LBB 750,000, exclusive of the naval and military credit of Li 1,000,000. The estimated deficiency at the end of this year is Li4,g00,000, and to cover this it is proposed to increase the income tax to Bd, the duty on spirits by 2s, and on beer is, and to suspend the Public Debt Sinking Fund. The Admiralty. The Admiralty announces that the Naval pensioners and members of the Royal Naval Reserve are required to be in readiness for service on short notice.

Bonuses. Sydney, Yesterday. The annual meeting of the Austra
lian Mutual Provident Society was held here to-day. A resolution was passed providing that future bonuses shall become available after the policies have endured two years, and surrender values be paid after a similar period has elapsed. Fifteen per cent. Dividend. The Bank of New South Wales has declared a dividend at the rate of 15 per cent per annum for the past halfyear, together with a bonus of 2Yz per cent. ShippingSailed—Waihora, s.s., for Auckland, this afternoon. Victorian Police. Eight hundred and fifty members of the Victorian police have volunteered their services to Government for militia.
