HANLAN INTERVIEWED.
(by telegraph.) Auckland, To day. Hanlan, who was a through passenger by the mail boat, was interviewed by a Star reporter. He stated that he intended to return to Australia in eighteen months with four American scullers, who will row a four-oared race against picked men ol the colonies, two double-sculler races, and four single-sculling races. While in America he expects to row Wallace Ross, Leemer, and Gandawr. Referring to the match wit h Beach he said, though fairly beaten, he was not as good as he should have been. tie rowed the first mile in 6min 25sec, and should have done it in 6min ssec. He had been willing to row Hearn, but that rain’s backers would not raise L2OO for a match. A match will shortly take place between Beach and Clifford, and the latter is a much better sculler that Trickettgever was. Hanlan intends to settle in Sydney.
