THE ATTEMPTED MURDER IN TIMARU.
(by telegraph.) Timaru, To-day. At the R.M. Court to-day Frederick Lucas was charged with wounding with intent to murder his wife in Sandietown on April 8. The evidence was to the effect that some hours after her confinement accused repeatedly exclaimed that the infant was a b— Chinamen, and, seizing a pea knife, after vainly searching for a razor, he stabbed his wife in the neck- She managed to get away and ran in a fearful state to the house of a neigh-. I hour The charge was very fully sustained, and accused was committed for trial, bail beiug refused.
