WESLEYAN CONFERENCE.

DoKsom, Yesterday. On the motion of Mr J. T. Smith, itwsf resolved to set apart one Sabbath in the year for temperance sermons. At the commencement of the afternoon session, the President, on behalf of the Confer* ence, presented to the Secretary a hand* some leather travelling portmanteau in recognition of his secretarial services. The secretary expressed his warm thanks for the unexpected gift. The balance-sheet of foreign missions was then read, which , showed a large increase upon the income of the previous year. On the motion of | the Rev Alexander Reid, a resolution in favor of Bible reading in State Schools wa passed, and a deputatian appointed to wait on the Minister of Education. It was agreed to hold the next Conference in Christchurch. The following is the final reading of circuit appointments for the ensuing year Canterbury—Durham street, J. J. Lewis, G. Bond, and John Aldred (supernumerary); Colombo road, W. Keall; St Albans, Joseph Berry (President of Conference) and O. H. Garland; editor of the N.Z . Methodist, W. J. Williams ; Church Building and Loan Fund, W. Morley; Lyttelton, W. J. Williams ; Maori Mission, TeKote (native minister), Raupati; Springston, W. Cannell; Malvern, a home missionary; Leeston, 0. H. Standage; Kaiapoi, J. A. Luxford ; Bangiora, W. Rowse; Wbodend, L. Hudson ; Amberley, a home missionary ; Timaru, P. W. Fairclough; Waimate, J. H. Gray; Temuka, W. G. Thomas ; Ashburton, D. McNicoii and T. J. Wallis (present chairman of the district).
