Entrance 10s; acceptance 10a to go to second horse; miles; winner of Maiden to carry 7lb extra; entries to be lodged with the Secretary? before 7.30 p.m. on Dec. 19. 4. Pony Race, of 3 sovs ; second 1 -«ov * entrance, 5s ; height not to exceed 14£ hands ; | mile; post entries; catch weights. 5. Shephked's Race, of 5 sovs, with -a sweep of 5b each for second horse. Will be ran on the same principle as a donkey race, the lost horse winning. RULES. 1. All races confined to district horses. 2. A district horse shall mean any horse that lias been commonly resident in that portion of the old Mount Somers Road District lying south of the north Ashburton from 30th September, 1884, and up to the date of the forthcoming meeting, and owned by a person who has resided in the said district during tha same period. 3 The decision of the Committee whom they may appoint to be final in cases of dispute or on all points in carrying out the programme. 4 All horses must be ridden out as long as they have a reasonable chance of winning. 5. Three horses the bona fide property of different owners to start or no race. 6. No protest will be entertained made within 30 minutes after the race run, accompanied by a deposit of which may be forfeite 1 should the eit prove frivolous 7. Owners of horses must be subscribers of 10a to the fund. 8. Race No 5 will be confined to employees on stations paying rent for waste lands of the Crown. First race to start at 11 a.m, W. Five per cent, will be deducted from all money payable for horse races by this programme, to defray expenses of the course. Holders of member’s tickets will be credited with 10s in entering horsea foe - one race only., ~ ■ Entries : Entries for races 1,2 and 3 must be made to the Secretary, either by post to Wakanui Post Office, or on the ground, before 11 o’clock on New Year’s Day.
