A district horse shall mean any horse that has been commonly resident in the country lying between the south bank of the Selwyn and the north bank of the Waitaki, from September 27, 1884, and up to the date of the forthcoming meeting, and owned by a person who has resided in the district above defined during the same period. 2. General rules of Ashburton Racing Club and Canterbury Jockey Club racing rules strictly adhered to, and new scale of weight for age adopted. 3. Five per cent, will be deducted from the gross of all monies payable in accordance with the programme, for expenses of the course. 4 .All disputes, claims and objections arising out of the racing shall be decided by the stewards, or whom they may appoint, their decision on all points connected with the carrying out of tnis programme to be final, and entries will only be received subject to these conditions. 5. All nominations and acceptances go to the fund. All entries and nominations to be accompanied by entrance fees, name and age of horse and colors of rider, and in the hands of the Secretary, addressed to the Commercial Hotel, Ashburton, not later than 9 p.m. on Monday, December I. Weights will be declared and published in outside papers on the morning of Wednesday, December 24th, and acceptances for the races to be paid to the' Secretary as above not later than 9 p.m. on Saturday, December 27. Entrance, 2s 6d ; acceptance, 2s 6d. 6. RULES. 1. The Alford Forest Cup open to the County of Ashburton. 2. All other races will be confined to the present Mount Somers Road Board district. 3 The decision of the Committee or whom they may appoint to be final in all cases of dispute or on all points of carrying out the programme. 4 Three horses to start in all races or no race. 5. No protest will be entertained unless made within thirty minutes after the race is run, accompanied by a deposit of 20a which may be forfeited should the protest prove frivolous. 6. All owners of horses must be subscribers of IDs to the fund. 7. The names of horses and colors of the riders to be sent in to the Secretary on or before 18th December, 1884.
