Sir,— On my visit to Ashbnrton I was somewhat surprised to see the unlimited efforts made by the various business houses in their display for the Christmas, undoubtedly to tempt the numerous country and town spectators, especially (he female community. The drapers seem (o be quite ahead of past years in their Inxnriant display to'catch the eye of the fairones. lihe butchers, too, are evidently struggling under the disadvantage of hot " nor -westers to givens something dainty (or oar Christmas tables. Whilst the grocers appear to be quite in their harvest amongst the sugars and fruits, and a various assortment of other little nicnacks, and no doubt every ’year they seem to . the Old Country style, —especially when we inspect Hayes and Co s .display, which seems to be qoite the LonJdbD touch, and undoubtedly assortment of fruits and other requirements for the occasion are by far superior to any 1 have #in on this or previous visits to A.‘hhferton. $8367 Country Resident.
