Consols remain at The total quantity of wheat on passage and shipping for the United Kingdom is 1,900,000 quarters, being an increase during the week of 400,000 quarters, Adelaide wheat, ex store, remains at 35s fid, and New Zealand ditto at 30s fid to 335. Adelaide flour, ex warehouse, 23s fid. Australian tallow, average quality beef, 345; ditto mutton, 34s fid. Copra has declined ios per ton ; Sydney sun-dried is now quoted at Lis 15s. Leather, best Australian sides is unchanged at Prime New Zealand mutton is selling to-day at S*4d per lb. Frozen Meat. London, December 20.
The cargo of frozen mutton, ex steamship Doric, was landed in good condition.
The Mails.
The homeward San Francisco mails, dated Auckland, November nth, were delivered yesterday. flgyptian Affairs. Berlin, December 20.
- The reply to the claims made by the German and Russian Governments to be represented oh the Egyptian Caisse de la Dette Publique has been received. The ■, Egyptian Government states in effect that it is willing to recognise the claims, provided all the signatory powers in whose favor the kw of liquidation was passed shall agree to sanction the necessary modification in the constitution of the Caisse. The reply caused considerable displeasure to the German and Russian Governments, and also at the Austrian Court.
International Conference. The International Conference on the Congo question has adjourned its sitting until after Christmas. Disastrous Fire. i> etv York, December 20.
A disastrous fire occurred last night at the Catholic Orphanage, Brooklyn. The bodies of twenty-one children who were burned have been recovered, but ninety others are still missing.
