SUPREME COURT.

Timaru. The Supreme Court opened yesterday. True bills were found against W. H. Harris and Charles Audoire for larceny, Henry Bodiey for larceny, J. O. and G. Beffman for making and uttering counterfeit coin, James Pul ford for larceny as a bailee. No bills were found against Duncan Fraser for falsa pretences and George Clark for assault with intent. James Mitchell, for burglary, received five years. Thos. Park, who pleaded guilty to a charge of rape, ten years. Henry Bodiey, for larceny, was found not guilty. f (by telegraph. ) Timaru, To-day.

In the Supreme Court James Pulford, for larceny as a bailee, pleaded guilty, and was sentenced to three months’ hard labor, the Judge regarding, the attendant circumstances as mitigating.* The prisoner had sold two horses, over which Dr Hayes held a mortgage of stock, but with the proceeds he had repaid a portion of a sum advanced to him.

In the case of Joseph Dyer, for larceny of valuable security, viz., a cheque for Ll), the jury found him guilty, but a point was raised as to whether the cheque for which no provision had ever been mads in the Bank (as was the case no.v) could be considered valuable security, and sentence was deferred pending a decision of the question.
