The annual Spring Carnival of the Ash* burton Racing Club will lake placaon Thursday and Friday next, aod promises to furnish sport quite equal to any of its predecessors. The Committee—the personnel of which has been little changed during the recent years of progress—appear indefatigable as caterers of public amusement, and visitors to the approach-; ing meeting will have much to note in the way of improvements effected during the’ recess. The handicaps for the first day have been declared, and it becomes the prophet’s duty to hazard anticipations of the results—a duty doubly hazardous when attempted before (he acceptances are announced.
