Owing to the unfavorable weather, the attendance of spectators was small, and play was stopped on ao* count of the rain at intervals daring the day, not mtich interest being taken in the match. An excellent wicket was pitched, .... and 'he ground was In gpod order. The visitors went in and at the close of the day’s play had lost six wickets for ICB runs. Shrewsbury, bowled, 80 ; Barnes, not out, CO ; and Briggs, not out,. 8. The home fielding was rather weak, and owing to the rain the wicket was rathe? bumpy. '
